Anyone out there in the northeastern us know where i can find a used rim for a 525c cat skidder. Ive heard theyare notorious for breaking right around the lugs so there arent alot floating arround
wengers. myerstown usa etc You are not likely to get a used wheel rim x-rayed or weld check sprayed etc for cracks before you purchase it Ask Titan and other rim makers what the specs rim specs are on new ones. https://www.titan-intl.com/wheels/forestry . They will probably say go and ask your machinery dealer.
Well i know cat wants 2600 and its a special order item. It was a design flaw and ive talked to a few guys that deal in used machines and they told me good luck finding one. 2000 and up 525 all the same. Closest one i found so far is in florida
Try Golden Rule Equipment in Myerstown, PA. They have a lot of dismantled forestry equipment.
According to my books Cat made the 525C models from 2005 through 2014. If it is a design flaw I'd like to see the design documentation of that plus photos of the damaged areas. The only reasons I've seen cracking around the lugs is from running with the wheels not properly torqued. If it is a "design flaw", why would you be looking for a used wheel that would likely have the same "design flaw"?
The design flaw is the axle end, the axle studs are to close to each other and there is not enough metal between each one. The rims are not all the same. It depends on tire size and off set . There are 16 and 20 hole rims. Some have rings for dual tires and that rim is thicker where the studs go through. Do you have a part number for the rim you are trying to find?
I have made a new center ring up and welded it in after carefully removing the broken center.
Thank you partsandservice for explaining that to him. No i dont have the part number for the rim. Ill see if i can get more info on it. Ill talk to crane operator tomorro hhe is the one who started looking for it. And the owner said to scrap the rim but after it off im gonna make a new center or weld it up and plate it so he has a spare. He better do it soon because cat wants the 545d back to do waranty work on the rear end.
The rim is the 16 bolt pattern
Thats the beast. Cant see crack under muddy ice. It is the rear one
