Shorty Lull Photo of "Shorty" Lull and his factory workers. Not sure of the date but looks late 40's/early 50's. We had a large version of this hanging in the engineering office at the Eagan plant. When someone stopped by to tell us one of their relatives use to work for Shorty, I asked them if they knew anyone in the photo. That is how I got the names annotated on the second page. I was told the factory was at 43rd street and Snelling Ave Minneapolis MN. At one point the factory moved to Bloomington where the Thermo-King plant is now located, then to the Eagan plant in the late 50's.
Last Lull produced in Eagan MN plant Lull 844C-44 SN 3783 was the last Lull produced at the Eagan MN plant in December 2000. Production was moved to the Port Washington WI Skytrak plant. This poster was signed by all the Eagan plant employees.
Lull Forklift History Found one more piece of history on this photo. Found this in: http://hennepin.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Corridor-Cultural-Main-Report-Final.pdf The Lull Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of forklifts and loading equipment, occupied the northwest corner of E. 44th Street and Snelling Avenue (3612 E. 44th Street) Minneapolis, MN. L. H. Lull moved from Rochester and started the company in 1934. By 1949, before moving to St. Paul, the firm had 100 employees. The foot note indicates this was from the article “New Materials Handling Machine,” Minneapolis Star 28 Dec 1949. The building was razed in 2006 for residential development.
