my neighbour has an old 3165 that has a backhoe problem . the old guy for some unknown reason when he removed the hoe portion to do some other work deadended the the outlet on the loader control valve body , fired it up with the result that the engine stalled out. he realized the mistake corrected it and all seemed well as the loader worked fie. however when he reconnected the backhoe there was barely enough power to extent the outriggers let alone do anything else . i have not been down yet to see it but thought that i would get any info that i could before i went. the incident may not even be related but the hoe worked well before. i am leaning towards hoses or a regeneration valve but i am only guessing.. thanks for your help sam
i should also mention that all of the functions on the hoe have about the same total lack of power sam
It would appear to me that he damaged the pressure releif valves for the backhoe.Could be wrong but I think that they are a cartridge valve and may not be repairable or wast hat the 50B oooo! the confusion....
I agree with Stock. Sounds like a pressure relief blew open so hard it is stuck and letting all the pressure go by. Been 30 years since I was on one, so I can't tell you where it is located.
I think it located on the under sided of the loader valve chest .
does anyone know if this relief valve controls both the flow to the loader and hoe or only the hoe;m if it only deals with the pressure beyond port it makes sense as the loader functions great sam
No Samk they have two separate ones to allow the hoe to be removed, and if the memory is correct the loader has a lower pressure setting than the digger, might be wrong as I had all my own teeth and hair when I last worked with one of those.
i just had occasion to speak to the owner to find out what he had uncovered in his attempt to fix the hoe and found the following 1/ he did try another loader valve body with no difference 2/ at the pressure port for the loader he found 2700p.s.i. #/ the port for the hoe was 800 p.s.i. 4/ he temporarily replaced the quick connect fittings with pipe with no change sam
If it's not on the loader block it may have one on the rear valve chest, you are of course in the new world and they might have used different hydraulic components than over here ..
one further bit of info. i called the old fellow and asked him to bring up the r.p.m,s to normal for operating the hoe, and then restrict the return line at the same time try the outriggers to see what happened. he told me that when he did this the riggers operated perfectly, until he released the return line restriction. i now think that the problem lies more in the hoe valve body but without some info it will be trial and error . does anyone have a schematic of the hoe valve body or any idea what to check thanks for all your help so far sam
