Does anyone know if I can swap a newer style master link into the older pin style chain to allow for easier separation? This is on a Caterpillar D3B.
Are you talking about replacing a press-fit pin master link with a crocodile-style one.? A Serial Number would be nice. It makes things easier to look up. Also take a look at your track links/master link sections. Are there any numbers cast into the links just under where the track shoe sits.?
