was talking with one of the other operators today about the grader. We got to talking about the two JD570 graders. In one there is a slope gauge with slope to one gauge and the other has a slope in degrees. can any one help me out with how degrees converts to slope to one. or where to find a degree gauge to put in. thanks.
You can order them online. Google slopemeter and you r in business. The degree meter is more engineers or inspectors checking the safe speed in curves. If you are grading road tops percent meter is best.
A rule of the thumb is if you want to convert degrees to percent, which is better as as hotrod49er has said for road tops, multiply your degree number by 1.74 and it will give you your percent number, eg, 4 degrees x 1.74 = 6.9 percent. This equation goes out of wack when the degree number is 10 or above.
I just bought a 20ll super duty and the computor diplays degees of slope,, port,starboard...... fore, aft....it also dislay's in degrees the radius when turning... what will they come up with next?
why do you even need it in a truck? Or is this just something some computer weinnie thought up to use up computer capacity?
I've already used it to lay out a culdesac..... set the degrees,,, drove stakes in wheel tracks... measured from c/l stake to double check.... came out perfect .... and I'm old and don't know all the benefits yet,,,,, my son's will tutor me. Drove onto the culdesac they were constructing and knew right off the center needed to be higher....
We have the #1 meter on our 12G, 8:1 down to 2:1 really handy for the price, also have Topcon system 5 for % work http://www.slopemeter.com/mechanicalslopemeters.html
Hi Granpa, 55years ago My Father used to put a spirit level on front window sill of grader with marks on it that would give 3/8 inch of crossfall after a while i managed it , what width the cross fall covered thats the problem, our memories are,nt what they used to be But we can still see the rough work some of these so called gun steerers leav e behind. makes me cranky , bettergo or i will carry on on a hobby horse of mine we had old machines and did good work, these steerers have the latest machines PLUS Gadgets their work is not what one would call superior
Well those young guns do have their work cutout for them, we left pretty big footprints for them to follow. But after raising a couple of those " young guns", I don't think they will be resting on OUR laurels... lol good post Ipnt65
Mechanical Inclinometer All right I need to confess! I had a spare RV angle guage hanging in my shop, so you guess it. I put it in front of me under the steering wheel, and low and behold it even works Good $2 addition ))
This may help you do conversions.
