Looking to invest in some mud mats. Local company sells the large 4x8 rubber mats but they are so cumbersome and awkward. I was looking for something smaller and lighter to make paths from the road to the area we're working in. Many times we are doing a small addition or a tank removal and getting the truck next to the hole makes a huge mess and costs a fortune to reclaim the area when the project is completed. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Im waiting to hear back from this company. http://www.prestogeo.com/design/construction-mats/#table-3 Thanks Eric
http://www.alturnamats.com/ 4x8 can handle by hand. Treads built into the mat keeps vehicle or mat from sliding on a incline.
Thanks. I reached out to them for pricing. This is what the company by me carries and I've used them before but sometimes if there's a slight incline they become slippery.
We bought plastic mats with tread in the 3x8 size. Much easier to handle when you are working alone.
I think there are two different tread designs and the one's with the bigger/taller cleats don't slide as bad, but they can still be slick, especially if you have mud on the tires already. You can go all the way to the 8'x16' 2x6 constructed wood mud mats, but they are 3,000lbs or more each and you're going to need a forklift or a crane to set them.
We use 8x4 plastic mats. Work great if you come direct off of hard standing on to them. If you tyres/tracks are already deep in mud the you will slide no matter what you put down. Graham
