Mulching/brush cutting questions

Bison ยท 2010-09-25 11:45

Hi there,Newby here. I got my eyes on a used 2001 ASV 4810 positrack with a 70" davco brush cutter on it.(2300 to 3000 hrs) there's a 60" mulcher head with it too.The machines are in good shape and well maintained. I can take my pick out of 3 units. The guy wants 45 grand CND for all,$15000 for the mulcher alone. Is that a decent price or? I need to clear fencelines and cut regrowth bush in my pastures + i want to open up some bush for grazing as well. I like to get any opinions on these machines, good and bad,and how do they stand up. Thanks

Uhmmmm ??? ...... a little confused with your description ? ... the ASV numbers are what ? never heard of a 4810 ..... but the Davco 70" would be a model 705, but is it the ss 705 or is it the hss 705, which is the hi-flow model (which is a preferred choice) ... but that would depend on the driven machines aux hyd output ..... as far as the Davco's performance goes "They're Great " for what you want (I own one) and use it on my A-300 Skid and have modified the mount system to also work on my Cat 312Excavator .... it's on my profile pic (back machine).... but if they want $15,000 for just that attachment, that's almost the new price, call Barda Equip up, they're in your back yard (grand-prarie). The Davco's cost of operation is extremely low compared to the drum style mulchers, using hammers (Stay away from Rocks with those units), also the Davco will allow you to cut flush with the ground and not tearing up the turf especially if you're reclaiming hay fields and meadows, its like working with a giant weed eater/lawnmower. Try and find out the exact numbers on the individual units, that'll help to give a better opinion .... :drinkup

sorry for the confusion, its a ASV 8410hd.hy flow The machine was orig bought new as a unit from Barda so i expect it is a matching setup. The cutter alone is $13000 brandnew. Barda was the one that made me attent that the unit was for sale. The guy wants $15.000 for the drum style mulcher head(seperate attachment).

Well i bought one for better or worse. ASV 4810 with 2260 hrs and a brandnew perkins engine(85 hrs) and decent tracks. The Davco cutter is in good shape and has new knives and a barely used Fecon mulcher. 40 grand for all delivered home. It seems to run ok,i'm still geting used to it.The Davco doesn't do much for chopping up the thicker sticks but it has no problem cutting the occasional 6" trees. I haven't used the Fecon yet
