Mustang 2040 auxiliary hydraulic question

simpleman08 ยท 2015-08-07 17:49

My dad recently purchased a 2040, he is having troubles when he hooks up his brush hog mower. When he mows short grass its fine, but the taller stuff almost stops the blade. We tried the attachment on another skid steer that has 1gpm less flow and it never skipped a beat. The couplings are all new, filters and hydraulic oil also. Is there a way to test the pump? Or anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

This should have the same couplers as a takeuchi. So, in the Takeuchi, there is a pressure relief when you push on the couplers, and that joins the pressure line and tank line together. Which makes it easier to connect your hydraulic couplers. Sometimes the seals blow out inside the hydraulic coupler valve, and you will loose flow/pressure through there. Just a quick test is to switch the hoses, and switch your flow direction in the machine, and see if the problem still happens.
