Very interesting! Is there a standard cab/bed spec? Wonder what the price tag is.
Um armor plating is cool, but if ya shot out the tries it's done for... Stock BFG A/T's....
It may actually have the run flat donuts inside the tire which are mounted around the rim.
Yeah but the sidewalls on BFG a/t's are super soft and if one wraps up around the brake caliper...game over. My brother builds baja trophy trucks, i have seen BFG baja t/a's hit microwave sized oven rocks at 100mph and keep going... thats what i would use at 500 a tire there a little expencive but heck your buying a bullett proof truck anyways....
Does it get 39 mpg???
well full beadlocks and looks like 3 spare tires atleast you have options to make it down the highway.
Here is the replacement for the HMMWV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oshkosh_M-ATV The funny bit is the Marine Commandant said that the would not use a 20,000 pound vehicle. This one weighs 25,000lbs empty and 32,000lbs with full loadout. I think the commonality of the drivetrain between the M-ATV and the MTVR had something to do with their decision. Turns out the M-ATV isn't a replacement for the HMMWV, but a high mobility MRAP truck.
This is a quote from the article the link leads you too: There are a wide range of equipment options available for the NSTT, depending on application, including run-flat tires , infrared lighting, signal jammers, sirens, a 2,000 watt inverter, winch, onboard air compressor and blast mitigating seats -- just in case.
If I ever get another job in East St Louis I might consider this truck for the armour plating.
