need d6c radiator

Skynight ยท 2022-11-01 14:02

hi, my mechanic just told me that my radiator on my old d6c flat track dozer is beyond repair. The shop said they could order a new "core" and get me going for about 3k. Are there any used radiators out there i could buy reasonable , and then have that radiator boiled out, etc. and installed back in my dozer? Just trying to save some money. thanks in advance.

You provide no part number, nor serial number. There are 12 variations of D6C. I'm guessing at a 4N-6298.

4N-6298 @ Caterpillar is $3800. Afternarket is around $1300, and, either way, is just the core. You'll need to reuse your tanks.

Try Head Equipment in Moss, Tn.

so sorry for not giving more info....i thought a radiator was a radiator, lol the serial number to the machine is 10k3720, and the radiator group number is 7S3065.... i hope that helps. thanks balls2go, i will try head equipment tomorrow. and does anyone have a contact for an aftermarket core? thanks heymccall...thanks...aftermarket sounds great at that price.......i am a bit out of my element here, just need some guidance. i love the old d6c. it's old and slow, just like me.

7S2385 is the correct core number. I see from $1200 to $2k aftermarket, with shipping around $300. I don't see the OEM one in my Cat store list.

Discontinued - no replacement P/N listed. So it looks like aftermarket is possibly the only option.

Becoming quite typical on that these days Nige.

Having said that the tractor is around 50 years old. Would you reasonably expect to be able to go into your local car/truck dealer and be able to buy OEM parts for a 50 year old on-highway vehicle.?

    Nope!!!
