Can't find front rotors for 1988 ford ltl 9000. Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated. Truck is still in use and rotors cracked.need help finding some
I'm assuming you mean brake drums for your front steer, in the brake system. Any competent heavy duty truck parts supplier should be able to get them. You will need to find out what you have, pull the wheel and drum, and get casting numbers. Google "heavy duty truck parts" and use your area, and something should come up. Don't bother contacting your local ford dealer or auto zone. If you've got a good old time NAPA, they might be able to set you up, but those are rare anymore. Something with broken drums should be out of service until its fixed- just commenting, a piece can come out and take out a tire really fast, nothing ruins your day quite like a blown steer tire.
Some of the Ferds (sic) did have rotors on the steer axle back then, seen 'em.... they weren't worth spit, but they had them.... What rating front axle, and air or hydraulic calipers? How many bolt holes, outside diameter, height front to back?
How about some pics of it? Truck Shop
I could see a f600 or something like that with hydraulic brakes, and rotors. But a ltl9000 is the big square nose over the road version. Would they have come with rotors? I would think they would all be air brake. He's a new member and probably posted this on 8 different sites on the internet, already found his answer elsewhere, and we'll spend countless hours arguing on whether or not ltl9000 ever came with rotors and hydraulic brakes, and never actually see pictures of the truck
Well, Ford Louisville built all kinds of bastid orphan children, so anything is possible. The ones I saw were under dump boxes and had air discs on the steer, but the books show listings for hydraulics in certain years depending on the axle rating. The county my dad wrenched for bought a couple Louisville ten yarders one year way back, they were a constant battle replacing kingpins and spindles. According to the Ferd parts guy they had school bus front axles. Go figure.
