need some help

Im thinking of moving to North Carolina from Michigan. I'm looking to find out what the pay is roughly in N.C. for mainline operators? This is gone to sound dumb, but i have an old diesal chevy and it smokes is there emsiontesting to get plates, or anything like that i have to worry about:beatsme

    In my part of NC, the Fayetteville area, the pay averages around 16 an hour plus or minus. Raliegh and the other big towns pay more or course, but if you live near by, the cost of living is more also. We are having a bit of a boom now here. Ft Bragg and Pope AFB has several very large jobs in progress and on the books. As for emissions testing, only 96 and newer and no emissions for diesels. As long as it can pass a standard safety inspection once a year yur good. DMV is pretty fast and easy as far as plates and a new drivers lic goes.

    what kind of stuff do they look for with the inspection?

    The usual, tires, lights, wipers, brakes. Then its up on the lift to check front end components for excessive wear and the exhaust system. Not that big of a deal.
