new batteries dead

guys i need help. i have a cat 320fl that that drains new batteries in 4 hrs. even with the master switch turned off the jumper cables when applied to start spark.what is going on.it will barely start with jumper cables after 20-30 mins jumped off a 24v machine

    some where between the battery box and the master switch there is a shorted cable or perhaps the bat.box cover its self. master sw also could have an internal short

    You could also take the ground cable off when the batteries are fully charged and let it set a while and see if they are holding a charge. Just cause they are new doesn't mean one of them isn't a dud.

    He says the draw is there with the master switch off.

    My "cat product link" GPS trackers on my 3 Cat 328Dlcr machines will kill the batteries after 7 days of sitting unused. These only have two batteries, unlike every other Cat excavator here (cold weather pkg w/ 4 batteries). If your machine is in a fringe cell reception area, that GPS will constantly keep trying to call home, but, not in 4 hours.
