Its sunday morning and the Driver called me. He was going to start useing the 2010 KW and when he backed it under the trailer he felt the brakes draging and saw the gauge showed presser on them. He called me and ask about it and i told him i would come over and look at it. About 5 miniutes later he called and after he shut the truck off he heared a noise from back of the dash and they released. It was up on jacks in the shop and the brakes were released and applied several times checking for air leaks and i had turned the tires to make sure they were not draging.
I had one of my trucks act up kinda like that it's my personal 07 mack that set's at my farm a lot you could drive it and then it would suddenly lock the brakes down tight luckily it only done it at the farm and shop got lucky and found dirt dobber had built a nest in one of the brake valve vent lines and would not let the valve release cleaned it out and put some slits in the plastic line in case he came back
clean and lube the brake treadle. sounds like its got dirt in it and making it stick
Mud under the tail of the brake treadle usually.....
I havent looked at it but it was used today with out any problems. I look at these newer trucks with all there antilock wires, probes, and sensors and forget about all the simple things that can happen. I need to quit over thinking things. The driver got in it and looked out the back window and saw all the wires comeing out of the muffler and put the local wrecker service in his phone.
Mostly the air brakes are the same as they always were, ABS usually just manifests itself as phantom warning lights and not problems with the operation of the actual air system, so use the same procedures you would on a 1990 truck and you will probably find the problem.
