The powers that be just purchased a new Volvo L180H. It replaces the 972 Cat. it will be doing snow removal until spring, then the snow tires will be swapped out for rock tires and it will begin working in our quarry with the 980M. It will be the second H series in the lineup, the other being a 110. The 110 seems sound, it feeds the asphalt plant, and is the primary yard loader. It also dons the winter sneakers, and so far hasn't missed a beat. Unlike the G series, it uses DEF, and so far so good. The 2 Gs, an L45 and an L70 are both quite bothersome. Other than these two Gs, all our Volvo products are pretty trouble free. The grader has had a few electronic issues, but Volvo support, or strongo is tops. They learned years ago that it's cheaper in the long run to get the Cat, or Volvo service techs to do the work. Anyway, has anyone had any issues with the 180H? just curious.
The company I'm currently working for has an L110E they inherited from the previous owner of one of the ready mix plants. Other than some trouble with the orbitrol valve, it's a decent enough machine. That's the only Volvo loader I've worked around, can't speak to that new 180H.
