hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. i may have a line on a *very* affordable excavator. It's a Nissan N-45, unknown model year, ~3,000 hours. assuming the machine runs as advertised, any particular concerns with these Nissans? cost is not one (i'd be buying it at less than scrap price). i would not be running it for a business but mostly for doing work on my property. thanks!

Depends on how much you want it to work when you need it, and how much you mind looking around for information and parts. It sounds like maintenance costs are going to be a bigger factor than purchase price, or why would it be so cheap? not a big deal if you enjoy the hobby and aren't in a hurry. As far as I remember, Nissan excavators are NOT associated with Nissan motor company that makes/made? cars and medium trucks.
A friend of mine had one of those and it was good little machine but parts availability is almost zero !
They were marketed in Aust and NZ as Hitachi.
I got the same excavator Nissan N-45 , by any chance do you know the seal part number for the bucket cylinder or measurements, any thing will help and if you have any other information about the N-45 please share.
