Hello folks. My first post. My old case 480c sometimes briefly locks up the steering for a couple seconds. Happens with both empty and full bucket. Won't turn right or left. power steering reservoir is full - assuming it should be checked with the engine running. Where do I start looking?
Check steering linkage,pump Kingpins . Pick front wheels off ground wiggle stuff around see if any looks or acts “off “.pump belt
Like was mentioned, check the pump belt. When the going get's tough, it can slip.
If it is a 480C the pump is gear driven. Have you changed the filter in it and cut said filter open and look for contaminates ? There is a relief valve in the pump that may (probably not) causing a problem.
