Replaced the fuel guage tank sensor on the 6R today 05'( the little plastic chingasso with wires going to the harness held down with 2 screws) There are 2 brass contacts if you look at the under side of the sensor but it is cased in clear plastic and the top of the sending unit that's in the tank just looks like pot metal, no connection between the two. Inquiring minds need to know how it works?
I think it would be a radar/ultrasound kind of sensor, measures fuel level like submarine locating technology, no moving parts to wear out.
Yair . . . bolt thrower This also applies to that thing we used to use called a "dip-stick". LOL. Never can understand why equipment needs a fuel gauge . . . light aircraft have them too but would you trust them? If you work for me and you check the engine oil and coolant and dip the tank before you start your shift . . . running out of fuel is not a job retaining option. Cheers.
One outfit made a strong statement to new operators. Run out of fuel and we'll get a truck up there right away to get that taken care of. You can ride back with the fuel truck and we will have your last check under the window wiper on your car.
Agree with the dipstick, worked fine for years. Tring to get the warning lights off on the dash, way to many complicated systems and systems to check systems :Banghead
I looked at mine the other day and if you pull the harness out from under the rear window there should be a connector ,at least on mine there is.Good luck.
