Old memories flooding back

While speaking to Birken on another post, memories of the 'Good Old Days' came flooding back. Reason my back is pretty much hosed up today is due to those days. At the Quarry, old Euc, third member rebuild due, crawl under after drained and axles pulled, shaft out of the way and bolts out, had two large long threaded rods would install and then jack screw the third member out. Once out far enough and balanced on a floor jack, tipped it off so could drag or roll or both out from under. Did that I do not remember how many times with reinstall pretty much the same. Always alone, a few drivers around but no other bodies to help. Sheet of old plywood, drag and roll the big witch back under, rock the monster up on the jack saddle and arm wrestle it all the way up to the studs. Dropoffs were the norm, just resituate to try again. No place for come-alongs, no room for much else. Did the same on tandems, singles, road and off road equipment. Really bad day was working a rear third member in under a flatbed forms truck, had the rear diff on a jack and the left duals off to get enough room for the chunker. Get it in place then noticed my leg felt tight, truck was coming down jack was not holding and really slowly lowering. Luckily a driver saw and heard, came a running and raised it back up, banjo housing would have crushed my pelvis into the rocks. I know I have used up most of my Nine Lives, I have not taken chances as that for forever.
