This old 15a D8 finally runs great as long as you are working it, but if you road it a 100 yards or even less and the converter heats up. Any body got any ideas why? Thanks
There is a warning in the operators manual if I remember correctly about running it without much of a load on it as it will overheat. There is a window or range of loads that it will tolerate, if you have too much or too little it can overheat. I think you also need to watch the level of fuel in the tank since it acts as a heat sink for the diesel converter.
We rebuilt a Cat D337f with a twin disc diesel torq in a Rail road Wrecking crane, Would over heat when traveling light, towed a couple of boxcars behind it, no more overheating we had to watch it like d9gdon says
It did this before we rebuilt the clutch linkage and serviced the converter, but not this quick, thought maybe one of you had run one enough to have some tricks. Did anyone ever mess with the converter cooler?
