Looking at compactors, a dedicated ride on vs skid steer mount. Primary uses. Slap on grade home sites, small commercial pads. One of my salesman says skid mount is just as good, just a little slower. Anyone have any experience?
When they first came out I rented a few times. Fine if you want to do thin lifts. They just don,t have the weight to hit hard (even with the machine pushing down) and the pads are cheaply made(too small). For the same money I found a nice raygo rumbler put a quick tach plate on the hitch and went to work. Its a bit of a cuss word to haul, way too heavy for a pickup, ctl and packer combo. The long pads get stuck in the ramps if you don,t put boards down. That creates more cuss words and some bent metal. A dedicated ride on machine is hard to beat.
