Pc 220 Radiator quick fix needed

Bob 220 ยท 2016-07-17 10:06

Gentlemen I've recently cleaned the radiator both top and bottom covers removed and thoroughly cleaned. Problem is both plastic covers now leaking. Have used silicon plus epoxy glue also broke few metal clips/clamps. Ordering genuine rad takes weeks. Need a quick fix. Has anyone experienced this situation? What radiator can substitute a komatsu PC 220? Appreciate all the help in advance Bob

Have you taken it to a local shop for an opinion? What has the local Komatsu dealer said about using something for a quick fix. Another question, where is New Ireland?

Thanks rbm haven't seen any dealers yet as project site is very remote takes 2-3days travel to nearest shop. Wanted to save the hassle seek forum help then head out. Oh! New Ireland is in Papua new Guinea just north off Australia. Thanks again Bob

I moved this thread to the excavator forum, it should help get more responses. Best of luck! BTW - Learning something new today, New Ireland.

Dump a can of white pepper into the radiator, it'll keep you going for a coulpe of days

Crack an egg and put it in there (really)

What kind of gasket or seal does it have between the ends and the radiator? The only thing I can suggest is to reconfigure the system so it runs on a minimum pressure, or no pressure, might only need to find a different radiator cap? That won't work if it's running hot. The maximum temperature will be less with lower pressure, and even less if it's running straight water with no pressure. If the temperature always stays at 180 then you'll be fine with no pressure.
