i purchased this machine yesterday. knowing undercarriange was pretty bad pins are wore through completely. when i went and looked at machine it operated fine in the gravel lot. once i got it back to my property it want turn at all really. it tracks forward and back good. i called owner that traded machine in and he clained the undercarriage was keeping it from turning. is this possible? or is it more likely a drive or hydrualic issue.
Hard to tell from that picture..... are you planning to run it like that or put new/newer undercarriage on it? first thing you should learn is how to put the bucket down, lift the tracks up a bit, then move the travel pedals while swinging (opposite)to make turns... it is a lot easier on the machine and will prevent you from walking the tracks off in a turn if they are as bad as you say, because putting a track back on that size machine by yourself can be a chore! Also if your travel speed selector is not in low gear it won't turn very good especially with the tracks binding because of wear.
bought with intentions of replacing undercarriage but if ive got hydraulic or pump issues i may change my plan
when trying to turn it it just dont turn its not like it jumps track or pins it just like it dies out. just didnt know if undercarrige could really cause that i would've thought it would powee through it and tear somthing else up
A worn out undercarriage will not usually cause track power problems. If the tracks are that bad the sprockets will just jump the teeth. Before you do anything else, start checking the simple things. Does this machine have the Cummins clone engine or the actual Komatsu engine? There are fuel strainers in each but different types and places depending on the engine manufacture. Change the fuel filters and check the air filters. Check the monitor panel for fault codes. You can even check hydraulic pressures from the monitor panel if you know how to get into it. What are the cycle times on the boom up function. It should be around 4 seconds from the ground with the stick and bucket fully extended to top out on the cylinders. Does this machine have a single hydraulic pump section or a double section pump? A photo was tell us what you have.
im guessing cumming?
recent service dates on fuel air and oil filters. oil looks clean air filter is new
You are correct, it is a Cummins. There should be an inline strainer on the counterweight side of the engine. It looks just like a gas filter we used to use on sixties cars. You can remove it and blow backwards through it with compressed air to clear any debris. If it is a gas filter, replace it with a factory part. A photo of the hydraulic pump would answer some questions.
photo i got off line forgot to take one of mine today. there was no codes that i seen unless there hid in a menu i also couldn't figure out how to access anything that would let me check hydrualic pressures
Now that is a different pump than what I've seen in the past. It is a single unit though. Is the turning problem in both tracks in both directions? I'm guessing that machine originally came from Europe.
mine could be a little diff ill get exact pic tommrow. yes same both ways travels fine forward and reverse boom works well i roughly tried to count today and id say no more than 4 5 sec raising it up. digs fine but this is the first machine even close to this size ive owned so my comparison is slim to none as far as boom power speed etc. but i def no there's a issue with turning
It sounds like the pump needs to be turned up a bit. The pump in the photos has different controls than what I have experience with. Post a photo of the control blocks on the side of the pump when you can.
will do i will get back with you tommrow thanks alot for your help
