3 wires to starter, 2 red -battery and ignition. 1 white wire-where does this attach to starter motor and what is it for
White probably goes to the E terminal. It’s the ground side of the solenoid. The ignition wire probably goes to the S terminal.
thank you for that, the starter is on a komatsu excavator, there only 2 connections on the solenoid, the s and b terminal in your diagram. The white I dont think is an earth
Gotcha. Does this machine have a IMS solenoid on or next to the starter? Is the solenoid missing or has it been bypassed? The white wire probably went to the IMS.
Attached is a snip from schematic. White wire connects to starter at B terminal, with large red wire. Other end of white wire is connected to B ring terminal at alternator.
