Hey hef got a 89 357 originally a Cummins motor new fan shroud is 07-06681m001 but someone put a 3406b and there's no shroud at all... Looking for ideas to find right shroud.
I don't think it will be the only truck in the world running around without a shroud, it wouldn't be rare in my yard. But if you want one, do a little measuring for height and width and depth and go junkyard crawling, or the right pete parts man should be able to come up with one from a serial # for one with a 3406. If he throws a fit because "I can't look anything up without a serial #", go on truckpaper.com, find one for sale with a 3406, and call the seller and get that serial #. Then give that serial # to the pete man.
While I will be the first to ask for a S/N for a Cat machine when someone needs help if one knows the model and year of the truck sure seems like a dealer would have access to the factory information to be able to locate that information. Heck, maybe run out to the nearest truck stop and hang around for a bit and if you see the right Pete pull in that has a Cat decal on the side of hood offer to by the driver a breakfast to let you tip up the hood for a look. Might get lucky and see a part number on the shroud. Don't forget to take a couple pictures just for reference!
If no one responds, I'll see my '97 357 on Monday for pictures. In the meantime, the last 6 are 431484. 3406B, 357 tractor, original engine. Give your favorite Pete dealer a call with the last 6 and at least get availability & pricing.
