pins on rubber tracks

golddigger ยท 2009-02-03 21:03

The pins on my hitachi ex 60 seem to be getting flat and not as round when it was bought. With all rubber tracks do the pins get turned? Do the chains get replaced? Do the whole tracks need be replaced? does anyone have prices for all these senarios? Thanks much ointhead

You must be talking about a standard steel track chain setup with rubber track pads instead of steel. If so, they are serviced just like standard tracks. Once you get substantial wear on the bushings, take the tracks off, take them to a track shop and have bushings turned. That is, as long as the pins and rails still have some life in them. Same stuff all crawler owners have to deal with.

Hey, while your at it, when you take the tracks off to have them serviced, take the time to service your track adjusting cylinders. Take them out, clean 'em up, check the condition of the rod, and install new packing seals. Not much money involved, but it can save you a ton of money than if you didn't do this. Like, 4 months after you've serviced your track, adjuster seal blows, can't keep track tight, and your on a job you have to finish. :cool2
