hey guys i have a daewoo 400 that a track recently fell off of. I released the pressure on the idler and got the track back on but now the idler is really hard to pump back up. is there a special trick to it or do you just need a real high pressure grease gun? Thanks in advance
A lot of times our hand help grease gun will not pump up tracks and we will have to use our phnuematic grease gun. Be sure your track adjuster isn't frozen.
try lifting that idler off the ground, sometimes they'll bind that way.
i am sure that it is not frozen because it pumps up some then gets hard so it does move, mitch i am pumping it with the idler off of the ground. thanks for both of your replies it looks like its just time to upgrade to a phnuematic grease gun. again, thanks for both of your replies.
as said already lift that side off the ground, so your only tensioning a 'weight free' track. all rollers, idler and sprocket in the air slighty check that the idler isn't trying to twist sideways as it slides out from the frame. if the frame is worn this will happen. you can tell by judging the distance the housing has travelled as you look at it either side of the idler wheel.
The greese nipple could be faulty some times the ball blockes the greece from going in I have had it happen before
had a trencher that would not move the cylinder. Turned out the seals were bad and just filled the cylinder with grease on both sides.
get a track adjustor fitting and gut the insides, then weld 1/4"coupler on the end and adapt to porta power hose and use hyd. pressure to lossen up idler.....i have used this many times...just sayin...good luck
