rebuilding water pump on 410 – have questions on seal

Bryanbdp ยท 2022-05-29 17:24

The bearing in my water pump is shot. The original seal had a rubber bellows, and then a 2 piece ceramic seal assembly. On my impeller, there was a rubber cup pressed into the impeller with a ceramic ring inside it. Then there was a ceramic cylinder that fit over the shaft and pressed against the bellows. My question is, the original cup was rubber, the new kits AR101549 look like they have a steel cup. Are they interchangeable? And it looks like that kit replaces the bellows and seal assemby. (#25) old parts listing\/ New seal kit \/

Can't tell you if that will work, but put some silicone around the housing and on the metal cup so it doesn't leak past there. Appliance house is a source for that type seal, dishwashers, clothes washer ect use them. Joe H

Casting number on pump is R55130 It has pressed on hub and sheet metal pulley R55130 seems to come up as waterpump, but I'm not sure if the seal kit is right or not

So the bellows part #5 isn't needed? I figured the blue part replaced it, didn't realize it was a tool...

Both 23 and 5 are replaced with the new seal you do not need either just the new seal

The bellows part IS the seal, the thing on the left in your picture. The metal end goes into the housing with some sealer. Tap it in. Gently, don't bend it. Joe H

Yes. That new seal is correct. Use the blue tool to install it after the bearing is pressed into the housing. No sealant is necessary. Clean the housing thoroughly where the seal would press in to. Be very careful where you support the pump for removing the bearing. That housing is very easy to break.
