im having a hell of a time getting the cat dealer to give me a estimate to rebuild and repair my brake system on my d3 , he just cant seem to return my calls with a frim price to fix it and or a price for the parts so i can fix it,, does anyone know of complete rebuilt units that i can buy and switch out? the work to rebuild the unit is more then i want/can do which means dealing with the jackass dealer and receiving a large bill from them as well, like 4k large thx R
Well, you don't have to use the Cat house if you don't want to. There are a ton of independent shops or mobile mechanics that will do the work for you, probably cheaper too. But you don't get a warranty with most of those guys, so watch out and don't pay for the job completely untill you check out the tractor after the work is done. I don't know of anyone having rebuilt steering components for a D3 in stock, but suppose if you called around you might find some, maybe from one of the people I mentioned. Good Luck!
D3 innards The D3 is not a bad little tractor to sort on brakes /clutches lots of the bits are D4D, a good tip is to check the free play in the rods and pistons that works the steering clutches,as a few I have rebuilt have needed the push-rod shortening on the R/Hand clutch to give the correct reserve travel due to it would seem poor placing of the piston housing in the main case. tctractors
D3 Master Cylinder ctkiteboarding, There's a thread out there about arrogant CAT Dealers. See it first hand all the time. Get a CAT P/N on the complete Master Cylinder Component and send it to me. I'll see if it's available in the aftermarket. If available, we'll get you a great deal because everyone on this forum just seem to be great people. Would love to help bale you out of your nightmare.
