Replacing oil pump on Cat 3046T engine

Where is the oil pump on a Cat D3G 2005 3046T 6 cyl engine and how hard is it to replace?

    Have not done it on a 3046 but have been deep into a 3204, 3304 and a 342 spacer plate engine. To access the oil pump on all of these and evry other engine I have worked on the pan has to be dropped. You should be able to do it with the engine in place.

    I am not sure but i think its behind the front timing cover

    You are correct, it is behind the front housing cover.
