We need a lot more information to help you Stella. Is it power shift or standard transmission? Will the lever not go into reverse or does the machine not shift or move in reverse. Year build and serial number would be a help.

I think the model year is 1968. It's a straight 450 no letters. Transmission is hi-low-reverse. Was working fine and without any warning, sound or snap, grind or vibration wouldn't shift from low to reverse. Hi and low work good. Took to shop and pulled cover. Oil looks new. Checked bottom of case in several places with magnet.and found no metal. Checked output gears and shafts-look good. Gears manually shift smoothly. Clutch packs look good from the outside. Pulled control valve. Disassembled valve, check and detent plate. Not a mark and spools moved freely. Reinstalled valve and put shop air into port used to check pressure. Moved selector valve and watched clutch packs tighen at the proper position. Checked reverse gear when actuated with air and gear is tight. Replaced cover and pressure checked with engine running. 145 psi in all three gear positions. 1 1/2 second drop at start of shift. This is exactly what my service manual specifies. Removed gauge, started engine. Goes forward just fine but doesn't even offer a hint of going into reverse. My first thought was the linkage wasn't moving the selector valve far enough but the is no adjustment. I can't think of anything else to try. Need help.
