Just curious whether the rear bucket is reversible on most backhoes. Seems that it would work much better that way in some situations, such as ditch cleaning, where you don't want to drag material up onto the road.
I grab buckets backwards quite frequently. The problem you end up having is the stick has to be stretched way out to hold more than half a bucket of material.
most machines you can but some have different pin sizes like case.
It's handy for some situations but there is a significant reduction in power while pushing with the stick vs. pulling.
We reversed buckets on smaller hoes for years to dig under building foundations in short steps to install underpinning. Very common when adding a building tight to another.
