Failed rebuild the first go around. Was pumping a little bit but not much. Removed the Governor head and rolled engine over a few times without refilling governor. Not good. Really did not find anything that looked incorrect upon disassembly. So, I pulled plugs from head and soaked in acetone for a couple of days. Turned head over and spilled a rod. Found a second smaller rod in another passage. The junck in the bottom of the acetone tells me that plugged passages were at least part of the problem. I believe I have the correct passage for the larger longer rod shown in photo. The largest hole is clear to the other end of the head. What does it do? There must be another outlet besides the plugged hole.
U have the correct hole.. The small rod (vent wire) goes in 1st, then the big wire..(sits on top) BE SURE TO DEBURR THE WIRES..(wire wheel) The screw plugs should have some sort of sealant on them. USE IT SPARINGLY… Another thing the will keep one from working is, the cam ring in the wrong direction.. AND A PLUGGED RETURN CONNECTOR.!! (On the Top cover) Good luck.. u can contact me directly at: my screen name at aoldotcom
Pleased to get a response directly from you. Already have picked your brain from many earlier posts. The pump had been rebuilt at some time in the past by a long gone local shop. The vent wire had been installed in smaller hole to the right. At least I have time before a backhoe is going to move any of our frozen ground.
It makes sense that the vent wire does not belong where I found it. It does not line up with any outlet in the pump body. I have the vent connector cleared. Have the cam ring set for a CC pump as this one is. Wish that was the problem !
Thank you thepumpguysc for the private email hand holding. Finally got back to it. Replaced the vane pump in the fuel pump. Got smart enough to figure out that the fuel solenoid test on the bench was not the same as a volt meter showing current on the tractor. Takes amps too! Jumper to the battery for now, will deal with the mouse nest wiring under the fuel tank cover later. Running real well now. Cracked block gone, cam bearings that did not fit behind me. Finding all the seals that need replacing, one at a time. Hose or two as well. Alternator kit tomorrow and getting the seat to swing around for the hoe. Brakes and 1st gear on the agenda.
Good deal.. Happy hoeing.. lol
