Root Rake on Cat D6H or Case 550G

What do you think would work better for running a root rake the Cat D6H or the Case 550G? I thought the smaller machine may be a better choice.

Yair . . . . Why? I always found bigger was better. Cheers.

Here is a home made root rake that we made up for our old D6C a couple of years ago. Only problem is, Scrub thinks it is just way too wide!!

Yair . . . Guday Metalman 55 . You won't forgive me will you? (grins) I really think you do yourself a disservice by calling that jigger "home made" . . . you did an excellent fabrication job on it. Cheers.

Canot agree more, EXCELLENT work! What dimension teeth? And does the square pipe ride at the cutting edge leading edge?

We welded some contact pads on the HSS where the cutting edge meets up at intervals, which can be replaced if necessary. The cutting edge hits in the center of the tube height wise. Rake teeth are 2" plate.

Put the rake on the big tractor and get some work done. Push in 2nd gear with the kick down button pushed (if the 6H has that feature) and load it up with brush until it kicks down then push some more. Drop it at the pile and back up and do it again. Make those piles high and tight so they will burn up, or you will be out there with the little dozer eating black dust rounding up half burned stuff.
