I have searched the boards and the web for any reviews on scales that are mounted on the axles. I can't seem to find any. www.farmtronics.com/PDF-F/on-board_scales.pdf Has anyone has used anything simular to this? What are the Pro's/ Con's of using this type of system?
Weight system On our 2006 Scania 8x4 with airsuspension it is a onboard weightsystem.(singel front and tripple back) It reads the pressure in the airsuspension on the tripple axles and tells you on the onboard computer. It tells the driver the weight in example 7,35t Equal to ap 14 700 lbs where the last 0 digit is not "measurable/shown". Weight is shown on each axle.(also the front that is without airsuspension) I have checked the system on a public truckcontrollpost and finds it correct in ap 200 lbs variation/missview.(100Kg) As long as there is not to much friction in the suspension, i belewe it will show the correct weight. I like it, because of the ease to use, and the good acuracy.
A buddy of mine has it installed on his Pete tri-axle roll-off. He loves it.
bump bump bump
put a presure gauge on your lift hydrolics, we have found it to be generally within 1000 lbs or so on an 32000 load of rock in the box with the box raised just off of the frame in our dump trucks. More accurate systems are avalible that work off of the hindges and hoist but are several thousand dollars.
Here is a link to the Air-Weigh line of on-board scales for the commercial transport industry. http://www.air-weighscales.com/
air scales work great as long as your ont on a huge incline
We just started using a system that uses strain guages to be able to weigh out or 16tire suspension that dose not have any type of air ride...but it also has a sensor to work on air that we installed on the truck. It comes with a wireless control box so when we are loading a machine on the trailer the driver can have it with him to see if he needs to move the equipment forward or back on the trailer to see if he has made weight without having to climb to the ground and check a perm. mounted guage. We have also used the Air-Weigh brand scales and have been happy with that system...Like mentioned as long as the truck and trailer are equiped with air ride. I will find out the name of the company that makes the system we use and post it up.
I had a set of Vulcan scales on a Circle R side dump. I put a printer in the truck. You could print tickets right on scene. Pretty awesome and there was no more issues of being overloaded, which with a side dump is easy to do.
yea a couple of my pop's older petes and older trailers have the scales were never under the limit at all so it really dont matter if they have em
they are great but i have found w/our grain trucks they arent accurate unless the truck is fairly level and not loading on a hill
