On the engine block of my D6C, on the left hand side (when in the oporators seat) near the back of the engine is a tag with the tractor model & Ser.# & below it on the same tag is what I believe may be the engine ser #, which is very hard to read, but looks like it may be 5H8450 or 5B8450. One of the guys on the forum mentioned that the engine on this unit is a D333C, based on the tractor serial #, so I was wondering if anyone knows if either of those ser. #'s look like the correct one for the engine? Thanks
The correct Part Number is 5H8450. That's the Part Number of the plate on which the Serial Number is stamped. The engine S/N should be the same as the tractor S/N provided the original engine is still fitted.
How then do I determine the model of engine in the tractor then? One of the guys on the forum said it was a D333C, but is there any other way to confirm that if/when parts are needed to be ordered?
Check a 3306 3N1-up engine parts manual and you will find the D6C 3306 started at s/n 10K7953. Also at that time the engine would have its own arrangement number 2P6795. Prior to the 3306 the engines did not have its own number and the tractor and engine s/n tags should match.
As above - D6C 10K-prefix tractor was fitted with a D333C engine from 10K1-7952, and a 3306 engine from 10K7953-up. For your tractor the engine S/N will be the same as the tractor S/N provided it still has the original engine fitted. As you stated in your OP the "Tractor Serial Number" is stamped on the plate located the LH side rear of the engine then it would strongly suggest that your tractor has the original engine fitted, and also that engine is a D333C.
Ok, thanks for the information guys....I appreciate it.
