Who wants to work on International V8 diesel in TD20 around the central texas area??
Nobody... Unless u're paying $75/hr and all expenses plus parts and all. If your TD-20 got sick then you can either tear into it yourself or call the closest AIS Continental Komatsu dealer and vie for a place in the tech's schedule. If there's an old-hand IH mechanic around from the CIH or NH dealer the maybe they'll know what's up. Maybe retired. Give'em what they want to work on it, too.
What's wrong with the engine texasdirtmover?
I"m not sure whats wrong with the engine. Starts up with way too much black smoke, but struggles like its not getting fuel. New starter; motor acts like it binding up, maybe like if the timing was advanced too much. When it does light up and run after about 15 seconds in makes some serious internal noises, then dies. oil looks grayish like maybe had little water in the oil. If an out of frame rebuild is needed, then its not worth fixing the tractor. Just hoping some of you guys had any ideas of what could be a simple fix, but I think the old motor is just wore out.
Sounds like it needs rebuilt. If the rest of the tractor is not up in shape,it may not be worth fixing.I love the old IH dozers.
Has that got the V800 in it? Those engines are getting costly to repair maybe 25c could give you some Cummins repower hints........
Old international is pretty rough, u/c not to good, transmission and hydraulic systems leak pretty bad, tilt linkage been welded, panels all bent to hell with one bolt holding them on. best advice to owner at this point is to total it. He has great D8h that could put a couple grand in.
