Skid Steer Compatition

Hey all you skidsteer Dudes, I am planning a 2009 skidsteer compatition with skidsteer owners in the area, and would like your thoughts as to what different things we could do. Like tug-of-war, manuverabillity, rock rolling, wheelie stands, personal tricks or whatever you come up with. I am looking to contact local dealers and see if they are willing to sponser in classes with filters or services. Then does anyone see a problem with this as far as legal issues on private land? Give me your feedback. If you want I can send you a brochure. Thanks Wayne [email protected]

Since you asked, and I have a little experience in this area, you would want to check with either your zoning or building department for your area and see if you will fall within any restrictions for that piece of property. You also have liability concerns should anyone be injured or property damaged, meaning the machines, personal vehicles and what have you. I'm not looking to rain on your parade, but these are viable concerns in hosting an event like this.

:drinkupWell setting up something like this is never free so if there is a little cost should be ok. 1) Good point on checking with your county/city on land use. Most cases they just like to be informed, your mileage with laws/rules will vary. 2) Liability. You may require Public Liability on he Land for the duration of the competition...perhaps a bit longer. just in case someone steps in a rut and breaks an ankle or something. Statute of limitations in some places is 2 years in others it's forever. 2.5) forgot to mention. Fire up an incorporated company. Run this through that company....can you say arms length? no money in the company, you can't bleed a stone. 3) no fault clause/no liability form signed by contestants. This will cost you a couple bucks....in all likelyhood worth it as you can use it year after year and have a lawyer look at it every now and then and make sure the language is still good. 4) getting visitors to sign a no liability clause is difficult and it's easy to punch holes in those. However signs pointing out entry at your own risk is a nice little cover. However with contestants where it is an opt-in liability clause and they all come with their own liability insurance you will have little to worry about. Just make sure that any contestants who sign the document is signing to the fact that they have PL and PD, and that if they lie they will be held responsible. Make it draconian if you have to. 5) These are really not major roadbocks. This is typical of what needs to be done. The next time you do this it will be simple because you know what you need....you just jump through the hoops and you are up and running. 6) if you want to do an informal one? I would say just make sure everyone has PL PD, put it on the competitors to cover their hinies and just do it.... Sounds like a fun idea, ultimately you won't know till you try.....so I say try
