Helping a friend on a small water project, to get water into another pen, from an existing well. He'll put a pitless adapter in the pipe... first picture Pressure tank goes in culvert. Dug 2 foot deep trench to barn in background, for electrical line. Did this a couple weeks ago. btw... friend operates the drag line, at a coal mine, East of Hardin. OCR

Hey OCR, clear a few things up for me. Pitless adapter? Haven't heard that term before. Pressure tank goes in culvert? Is that like a bladder tank? Does that mean your bud is using a typical electric well pump down in the well and you connected it to a bladder tank that's housed in the culvert?

http://www.purdue.edu/envirosoft/private/src/pumppro1.htm You got it... :thumbsup And there's a big lid, that fits over the top of the culvert. OCR

Well (no pun intended), that's pretty cool! I've dropped plenty of submersible pumps down a hole, just didn't know all the methods of water delivery at the top of the hole, like a pitless adapter. Neat job you did there OCR. :notworthy

Thank you, ATCO. And with a pitless adapter, you can even cut the casing off below ground, and use a sanitary well cap for the wire... every thing is underground then. Most people don't do that here though... they leave the pipe stuck up, so you can run over it and bend the casing... lol OCR...

Yeah, it's not good to smack the casing at the top of the well and disturb the bentonite seal around the surface casing. That's pretty cool having the well head below ground, as long as you have the location marked for future maintenance projects.

Yeah, it would probably be best, not to cut the casing... just mound some dirt over it. That particular casing, in the picture, "blew" (went up in the air...lol) out of the well... no body knew why either?? They had to cement (concrete) it in... you can see some of it where I scraped on it. OCR

Wow, that is pretty crazy! I've used bentonite as well as Portland Cement to seal a surface casing. I've never heard of a surface casing blowing out (coming up in the air), that's a new one on me. Interesting to say the least, as to specultate what kind of pressure lifted the casing.

That was the story, told by my friends Mom... who owns the place. But there's no pressure on/in it now... I ask her why it blew out, and she said the driller didn't know... seems odd to me, too... OCR

As usual your posts are very educational OCR! I'd like to see more of your jobs if you can post them.

What are your drilling costs per foot there? How deep do you have to go to hit water?
