I just replaced the water pump gasket to fix a leak, then I fired it up to check the leak/ warm the oil before service and I noticed a vent hose coming from the top of the motor down to the under carrage and it was smoking and it smelt like burning coolant.... Should I be worried????
Disclaimer - I'm not a mechanic, but I've had it happen before after changing out a pump. Not absolutely sure why, but I think that if most (or all) of the coolant leaks out of the block during the repair, it could be an air bubble causing steam before the thermostat gets a chance to open and let the coolant circulate.
10-4! That does make sense, thanks for the input!:notworthy
