Here are some pictures of our lowbed trucks First 2 are of a D9R I hauled on a cozad 9 axle steerable 3rd picture is a cat 385 I hauled on a cozad 9 axle booster
1st is a D8N my dad hauled on a Murray 16 tire expando 2nd is a Komatsu 750 one of our drivers hauled 3rd is a "turbo extractor" i hauled for a natural gas power plant
and some more the tank is a WWII German tank only 5 left in the world. this one sold for 1.8 million to a museum in Belgium and it included a lot of extra parts.
Nice pics and welcome to the site, how many heavy units do you guys have now?
Thanks Tonka! 6 trucks and 8 trailers and still expanding. 6 of those are Murrays
some more
Oh good, cause Mr Murray is a member here....LOL! I used to see alot of the gas trucks in Gilroy when i would deliver hay at Silacci's. How do you like that flippy tail spread?
oh cool Silacci's was just a few doors down from our old place, now were on the other side of the railroad tracks. The spread axle air tail is awesome it will haul anything the standard "Easy Tail" will plus some! only downfall is it eats tires, but that was expected. axle dump helps that on the tight corners. keep an eye out for the spread trailer, its headed to the east coast now, with an asphalt grinder. heres a pic of some of the tankers
Awesome pics, always a neat sight seeing BIG equipment moving down the road and the rings that haul them. Looks like a top notch outfit, clean well taken care of rigs and trailers. Trbo
I like those colors together especially the scheme on the tankers. Nice and clean with just enough to catch your eye.
When did yo guys take the "G N" off the doors?
i think it was about 2005 when we sold the oil distributing and cardlock side of the business.
I really like this long haul 379...
That trailer needs a polish job! we have 9 sleeper trucks now that are all different colors (dad was bored of the blue and white) that driver has put a lot of time and money in that company truck. Where did you snap that pic? here is some pics of the inside before the new seats and a pic of the new product pump.
That was taken by my friend Mike, in Utah somewhere i think. He also caught the spread on 152...
that was me on 152! not the spread though just a standard easy tail. I know this isnt really heavyequip forum material but at least you like it Tonka!:drinkup
Very nice looking rigs ! U guys sure take alot of pride in your stuff, glad to see it. :usa
Oh yeah man i'm a truck nut, I used to drive for Maximum, and Rossi Hay Service. I also drove for a couple other outfits, untill i moved to operating full time. I used to love your trucks because of the seminole paint and the way you guys kept them clean all the time.:drinkup
I like it too! keep the pics comin!!!:thumbsup Pretty cool tonka has pics of your trucks, really cool one is of you!
What is the height of 385 when loaded?
Those are some sharp looking trucks! It looks like your ready for almost any load. Are most of your drivers ex-OTR drivers? I've always been curious how one gets hired on at these heavy haul companies.
Thanks for all the compliments! I think I was 15'4" with that 385. All our heavy haul drivers have all come from the heavy haul business except me:tong. we wouldn't hire a driver that didn't have experience. Heres some more pics. sorry for the bad quality, most of these pics are from my phone. 1st is me at a fire hauling a D5 on our trailmax tiltbed for CalFire. 2nd all lit up hauling a Cat 325. 3rd i had to get a load of oil out of LA and the driver of the yellow truck was on vacation so i stole it for a little joy ride.
these pictures are at Emigrant Gap on I80 of a little mining loader i hauled yesterday.
i did not know renn had lowbeds, now i wish someone would tell me they want to hire a sub to pull one, christmas early??? and yes the renn trucks are clean!!! rbrduck
hi, tonka, one question, wath is the difference between "low bed" and "low boy" trailers?
I'm sure Tonka wont take offence if I reply. In my book they are the same and what we in the UK call a low loader, different terms for different places. Of course the smart a** reply is ............ the spelling
ok, thanks for reply here in mexico only use the term low bed, but in some case of very heavy hauls where the trailers arrangement have two fifth wheel, use low boy thanks!!
LOL ... you almost need a code breaker to read post from overseas... for that matter north or south...sometimes maybe we need a FAQ glossary of terms ..... I guess it would have to be a picture type thing.... But it would be interesting to see what meaning some of the stuff .... some of it's easy to guess.... then there is the umm.. off to google i go...
yeah the use of two fith wheels make the longer trailers turn easy....
No i take offence to your reply Rob....Bahahahaha!! Yeah there the same thing just two ways of saying it or spelling it.
825h loading Bauer BG 28
Dam compactor's are hard on the deck of a trailer. PRenn do you guys cover the deck with anything to help protect your wood?
tonka, yeah compactors are rough on the deck, we put down old rubber challenger tracks on the deck that we cut cut up, works great!
yeah we did the same thing with old loader tires with the centers cut out
Love the lowboy pics.. Keep posting.
Class outfit, Great pics
thick conveyor belting is easier to handle, thats what i used when i worked for weldon trucking in fresno
what no early christmas???
WOW small world, I drove for ALW and Mark Ward...are you driving or operating now?
Sorry man we don't have any sub haulers and don't think we ever will. but you could always come apply for a company truck
yo supertruckers wats up i quick running lowbed for lee roy weldon and took a job running iron for granite const (D10R) times got slow so now im unemployed, used to haul crude for cox petroleum, never hauled the refine though, i enjoy big power and tractors so im gonna try to finda way to run this three axle under a lowbed, need to get pics i know, most of my life has been const. trucking or running iron and i like it, been trying to buy this 90 long hood from my buddy for a long time, so now i gotta work it or lose it, pren1984@gmail you guys need drivers? let me know what you need by the way the renn trucks are still looking good! you just gotta love a lowbedder duck
hey dont be sorry it is what it is
nice looking trucks
I've seen on of your petes up this way and always wondered who's truck it was, very nice.
Thank you! where are you from monster truck?
Ukiah, I was pulling a beavertail for an equipment rental company up here. We mainly stayed in napa, sonoma, mendocino and lake counties but every once in a while we got to venture off to the rest of the state. I've also pulled 5,7 and 9 axle cozads for a few other outfits up here. You guys got some nice rides. :drinkup
HEYYYY!!!! im running outa beer money!!! wheres the work??? spent 6 hrs on the internet only thing i found for a day cab was railwork out of stockton, what the hell is railwork i says? so i called, it was container trailers, pulling C-TRAINS is rail work, go figure duck
Nice looking pete
drill rig i hauled today...sorry bad pic
Prenn very nice pics a what a great looking fleet.
Sweet T800, i love T8's!
thanks!
Love the pictures ! I always liked the way US built trucks look
I found this while messing around on youtube today YouTube - Passing a Kenworth Heavy Haul
hahahaha nice find monster truck! thanks!
Gotta love loading that Watson sitting in the seat sideways huh.
Oh yeah, even though you know your centered it feels like your gonna slip off and go over backwards!
yep gotta love it just like loading a vermeer trencher
yo that was a reno rock truck that took that vid...lol nice!
For some reason all the loggers up here love thier 40 year old yarders with manual steering clutches and brakes that dont work half the time. Add to that sideways cabs that are 10 feet in the air and things get sketchy real quick when your on that trailer. Ahh the fun of lowbed work! :drinkup
some more
Here's a question, wouldnt that dozer qualify as a reducible load since the blade and machine are disconected. I have done the same thing with excavator atachments but never with a dozer and always wondered about the legality of it in either situation.
C500's, in Alaska Power is 3408, Main is an 18 spd, Brownie is a 4spd, Rears are Clark 102,000 lb planetaries. Charge is $ 350.00 per hour, 3 hour minimum. Permits and pilots are extra, but rarely used (sometimes-- for paranoid customers only). No scales up here, so what's the point of a permit? Troopers dont care. Price is for any trailer- largest is a 120 to Peerless. Not much shine, but routinely brings in $ 3,000.00 a day. She'll pull anything we hook her too.
That is so ugly it's beautiful. Thanks.
Contract Logger i dont know about up there but here, say if some idiot ran into to your load and killed themselves and you have no permit, its not gonna be good for you. And your bringing in 350/hr for a 5 axle? damn i'm moving to Alaska thats the best rate i've ever heard of!
Its legal, for some reason you can get permits for it. but i agree with you... looks like a reducible load to me, but were not complaining.
Contract logger, you have much trouble using ground-bearing goosenecks? Do they even make non-ground-bearing trailers that big? prenn, I don't have that strong of a grasp on most of these regulations, but i'm sure I've read in atleast a couple places that anything detached from a permit load has to be hauled separately. Is this something that is different in CA or is there something i'm missing?
that d10 was hauled from texas to arizona with permits for all 3 states that said the blade was removed and reloaded. totally legal as long as you can make weight.
parts of a PC2000 were hauling
Pier F Berth 206?
you got it
Its legal as long as its only serves a single function... lets say you have a excavator with a hammer detached and reloaded with a bucket still attached to the machine that would not be legal...but if you did not have a bucket on the machine or trailer and the hammer was still detached and reloaded it would still be legal.....weird but that's the way it is in Ca. I am not sure if that's the way it works anywhere else.
yep your better at explaining it then me Chaz haha. we've gotten permits like that in Ca, Az, Nm, Tx, Nv, and right now were doing it with a d9 in Wa and Or
Renn, Do you have a nine axle up in the Northwest? I have 2 loads up there I need to get down to Riverside.
aww man if only I knew that 2 days ago. we got a D9 out of Wa. Thanks anyways!
C500, Fresh rebuild. Light spec tractor- 3406E, 18sp, 4640's. Mostly just for fun. Turned out pretty good, is in Juneau and belongs to a local.
I just took a little trip to san diego and back and saw quite a few of your tankers, it seemed like every time I saw a nice lookin tanker goin down the road I would look at the door and sure enough it had your name on it. :drinkup
Contract Logger, is it really necessary to have a USDOT number in Alaska? :lmao
One more question. Have you ever been hassled about the stacks on your T 800's I had mine the same way on my pete and got pulled in for it at a scale. They told me that stacks couldnt be turned out unless they were at least four feet above the cab, that was the only thing they pulled me in for and they were hell bent on giving me a ticket for it. So while they went in the scale house to write it up I pulled out my tools and pointed them straight back, when the officer came back out and saw it he let me go on my merry way. One mile down the road I pulled over in a wide spot, turned them back out and never had another bit of trouble about them. :beatsme
Thanks! We used to have the stacks on most of the tankers turned out but probably like 8 years ago we started getting hassled about it and turned them all back. I heard it was 11' to the bottom of the opening of the stack to be able to turn them out, but who knows what the real law is. We haven't had anything said about the ones on the T-8's and i've never measured them but who knows with as tall as those trucks sit they may be over 11' haha! Also maybe they don't care anymore because those new engines don't smoke:beatsme
825G i moved to houston this week
I'm everywhere...LOL!
Man Tonka you are everywhere! what are you doin out in these parts?
lol my buddy sent them to me...
Im pretty sure I saw one of your rigs runnin into Houston a few weeks back. Maybe 3-4 weeks ago, headed "Inbound" on HWY 290 right before 610 between 330-430 in the PM. Didnt have a chance to snap a pic but the rig was one of yalls, trailer was LONG and empty.... wish I coulda gotten a pic!! And yes, these rigs are CLEAN! -adam-
Ya that was me, I just delivered an excavator to the four seasons dealership and I was heading to galveston to get my next load. Thanks for the compliment!
Check out the Renn boys streching their legs in Louisiana.....:notworthy
hahaha Tonka you've got friends in every truckstop across this country! But i'm surprised you didn't get a picture of this a couple days ago...5 of them lost in texas
Hey Peter, what are your guys hauling back to cali?
Are you guys running 255's on the drives. 295's up front? And if so whats the reasoning behind this?
We run 255's all the way around the truck and trailer on my grandpa's trucks for a couple reasons. 1, a set of dual 255's mounted on aluminum wheels are lighter than a super single on an aluminum wheel. 2, it takes a lot of stress off the axle as a smaller wheel takes less tourque to turn. 3, they are cheaper and easier to change. And finally 4, they look cooler! The only downside is that the tire rating on the front axle with 255's is only 11,300 pounds, that is why most people run 295's on the steer axle. Most of our trailers are spread axles though so we don't worry about it. All you have to do is throw some high gears in it and make sure you don't hit your tanks on the ground when you back into a steep loading dock and your good to go!
new to the NET, wish i'v take'n picture'&video over the year's. when i figure out how to use this computer i'l post cool lowbed'g
Happy hollidays
Yes we run 295s on the front of the semi's to max them out, can't with 255's up front because of the weight rating. The truck and trailers have 255's all around because they only run about 10,500 on the front end when their maxed out.
Rebuilt Waukesha Engine getting pulled out off shop with Caterpillar 966 loader(Edson AB). Engine Loaded and ready for shipping to site. Crane For Lifting Engine Engine Lift in Progress. Engine Installed(Fort Nelson BC).
Dig this new whip, O/O?
Don't have any O/O thats a company truck. There are 6 of them now. I was against ordering them but they turned out pretty nice for a T660! haha. They are the first T660s with no fairings and the stacks in-between the cab and sleeper, instead of behind the cab. Where was that pic taken?
The 5 i think not sure, dig that truck!!!!
Whats the specs on the t660's i like it alot, great job on making a vac hood look good!!!!
