can anyone give me any advice on on installing a static tumb on my 4ton kubota. i know not to weld across the dipper arm only down the bracket and to use #7018 welding stick. im going to take it to a professional to weld i dont want to risk doing it myself. is there any other tips or tricks you guys can tell me. also i know to have the thumb atleast one inch back or up from where it touchs the bucket when the bucket is fully curled. if that made any sense !!!!

I've got the same question. I'm looking at getting a thumb from Blue Diamond Attachments. Was going to get a static and add a cylinder at a later date. Was thinking about doing the install myself. Suggestions?

just got back from the welders and all is good, cost me $100 to get it welded on. cheap peace of mind i think. I mounted the thumb 1 inch and a half above where it comes in contact with the bucket when it is fully curled. i know it says to go a inch up but a few peolple have told me that they wish they mounted it just a little bit further up, so not to block the sight of the bucket hitch. also dont forget to undo the battery before you weld. thats what ive been told, but if you have a isolater switch i dont think it matters. i could be wrong. if your not handy with tyhe welder id suggest to get someone who is to do the job. hope all goes well for you mr follin.

Hi, do you think its possible to show a photo of your thumb, or link to something similar. I am looking for thumb options for my 350 but I don't want to spend the $$$ to plumb a hydraulic one in. ty

It's always a good idea to spot weld a thumb to test the operation of it, before doing the final welding.
