still looking for a solenoid for wain roy bidirectional valve

This valve was used by every one. mine is in a JCB 217 for the articulate dig bucket but they were used by cat, JD ,ford ect for the extra attachments like clam bucket . hammer ect. we posted the valve diagram no replys some one must have one some were ? it is 12v normaly closed looks like a #6 cavity with 9/16 thread for the wain -roy M237k valve kit . the dealer claims I bought the last one 5 yrs. ago but could not point me to a supplier . the company that made the valve is long gone . I can get parts for my 1965 500 dozer but not a 1995 JCB loader ? save me

It's probably a broken wire in the coil windings; can you get it apart and measure the wire gauge, buy some more, and rewind it? You have applied 12v to the terminal and grounded it, right? Measure the ohms thru the windings? This is more work, but if you can't get the part... Another thought; look up JCB dealers in England. Much more likely someone has NOS in the home country. 10 years ago I was trying to find Lucas ET ignition coils for a '67 Triumph Bonneville. Lucas quit making them about 1980 and the used ones were just as dead as mine. I could have bought the wire and wound an new one on my lathe. There were lots of coil winding articles on the net. Last year I bought 2 aisian new coils for $24, almost an exact copy of the Lucas.

it is a sealed unit we tried to use a larger coil over the bad one no luck this is not our first rodeo. we have made our own coils befor even have recharged the magnets in some old magneto ignitions . this is not a repairable unit . we tried to get parts from england and austraila they tell me to try US dealers who will not go the extra mile and look over seas. and we have found valves close to mine but they do not have enough meat to turn them on the lath to the right dimensions. i hope some one has one out there

Well, you sound like a more advanced specimen. Why is it not repairable? If somebody put it together, somebody can take it apart. Probably won't be pretty, but it'll work. I'm not sure what you mean by putting a larger coil over it; did you have a coil that had an inner bore that would fit over this piece? I don't know why you expected that to work, the new coil is going to be spaced away from the piece that moves the valve. Hit the Ford and John Deere dealers if JCB won't help, If this was a common part and not proprietary, somebody must have one. What exactly does this valve do? From the drawing, it doesn't look that big, more of a trimming function than full flow.

the original coil is cast in resin and a crimp fit sleeve holds the unit together and pressure tight to 3500 psi. we tried the coil over becouse the original was only 3/8 thick we hoped there was enough magnetic pull to activate it it is only a poppet type valve that pushes open a spool valve it looks like . and we have been to JD dealer they do not have any description or dimensions of the 27 solenoid valves they list . no dealer around here has all of them they did bring a few in to look at but we were not going to pay $40 each shipping for 20 more of them . have not had time to see cat dealer to see if they have a better parts set up . if it was a completely seald valve body we would have made a coil or bought one to fit over it but the whole thing was held together by the crimped tube . we took it all apart . resealing it to take 3500 psi and holding the poppet pressure spring at just the right distance off the poppet disc just not going to happen. you can't fix stupid and this is a stupid design for a valve non serviceable

Yeah, I'm not buying the 3500 psi. The picture of the valve assembly shows a clearly marked pilot pressure cartridge, and it's obviously a sectional spool valve, so those solenoid cartridges should only be handling two or three hundred psi maybe, they just shift the spool back and forth. YMMV without pressure checking though. Maybe some pictures of what you're talking about with the crimped tube setup? Are you saying that now you need a complete cartridge, not just the coil? Grab a Parker CCP012L coil from ZORO or Graingers, machine a brass or plastic sleeve to bush it down from 1/2" to 1/4" and it should work, dunno about the sealing part though.

Maybe you can make this work, it looks close.
