Instead of hi-jacking two other ongoing threads, I thought it would interesting to see the different weird machines from around the world. Post whatever strange machine you have, be it earthmoving, forestry, agricultural or attachments. To kick it off here is a Mecalac collecting hay bales in France. YouTube - Pressage de la paille 2009 (En france) One of a Haulette multi-job. YouTube - Haulotte Multijob - Telescopic Handler And a re-post of the one over in the Weird Grader thread YouTube - Mecalac PTH Niveleuse Verhaeghe Products
Digit "Gallmac" into YouTube and you will be pleasantly surprised!!
Never seen a blade on an excavator before. That excavator picking up bales looks pretty slick!
Well, in Europe is quite common, above all on wheeled model, sorry me but I do not understand what do you mean with "pretty slick"?!?
Pretty slick= pretty cool
http://www.gallmac.us/wmw115trs-s.shtml the trencher part is cool. over-all it appears to be an all purpose machine, some of the photos it reminds me of a mass excavator.
Here is another similar machine - http://www.mecalac-ahlmann.com/en/Products/12MTX.html I would like to try either one, although I would bet they are very expensive machines to purchase and operate.
if the american market accepted the multijob, alot of backhoes would be for sale, that bugger is super slick.
According my knowledge multipurpose excavators are expensive of course, but operation cost are more or less like of traditional excavator same size, but capital consumption allowance is faster of course!!! Without doubts!! How many working hours could you be able to do per year with one skid, or one midi-excavator, or one telehandler?!? Few hundred for each specific machine?!? With such type of multitask machine and its proper attachments, thousand per year!!!! In Europe backhoe is one fossil...:yup
Why from your point of view american market should not accept multipurpose machines?!!?
Never seen any of those before.
We Americans have yet to accept verticle stabilizers on our backhoes, allowing the boom to slide right and left, and thats a minor difference compared to a multijob. Tilt rotors are also a rarity. I'm not sure what drives the europeans to have them, but not americans. But then again you all don't have pickups either... I think if a major us brand introduced one they would do well, but it will take suport from established dealers to get people to switch. To me thats why jcb does poorly in my area, because its dealers are medium to small rental stores.
multipurpose excavators in USA Well, the last sentence is one Gospel truth...everywhere!!!:thumbsup But honestly I was convinced that americans do not need multipurpose excavators mainly for three reasons; 1. no needs to have machines working in narrow spaces 2. in case of special needs it's more easy & cheap rent specific machines 3. conservative ideas..........
i think you hit the nail square on the head there.
And it all really depends on what kind of work you are doing, and where you are doing it too. We do a lot of residential dirt work, and a lot commercial dirt work. Our tractor hoe hardly ever gets used, maybe 250 hours a year if that, and our 6 excavators get 1,500 hours a year each. but then again we have 4 lowboys, 2 of them constantly hauling for us and other companies, so I guess it's just easier for us to haul them around
So if you should have one multipurpose excavator with proper tools, you could use it four times more than backhoe and maybe you should need less excavators!?!? What do you mean with "lowboys"??
America guys! It's time to change mentality & habits...:IMO
We will, right after what we are doing now stops working for us...
I really don't think one of those multipurpose excavators could handle the type of digging we do in Minnesota. Besides tracks are nice to have on the job site. A lowboy is what we call a truck and drop deck trailer for hauling equipment
The Gallmac importer is one of my suppliers. I have had the tracked Gallmac on demo before.
One problem we have here in the states is distance. A contractor may have a job 1000 miles from the home base, and he doesn't want to move his operators and pay food and lodging for them when he can hire local operators for the duration of the job and keep his good men close to home. There are not that many qualified multi task operators around, excavator operators may only be good on one type job and have to have on the job training to master all of the multi task function. Time is money.
I really don't see this being a big contractor piece. More of a small fleet owner operator type machine. I Think the key to getting these into the market here in north America would be having dealer support from one of the heavy hitters like, Cat or Deere.
Ohh, good! How was you feeling? Why you did not buy? From your point of view why the importer does not fill the US market with fabulous Gallmac?!?!
