sumitomo sh 350 batteries blown

Yesterday replaced 1 battery as it blew up now today it started clicking and wouldn't start, then the other battery blew do you think I should of just replaced both batteries at once or there is another problem

    Always replace pairs of batteries at the same time, otherwise it's an endless process, one after another.

    What do you mean by "it blew"? Did it actually blow up or is it shorted out, or something else?

    Replaced the other battery now its all good machine working fine thanks for replying

    The only time I have seen batteries "blow" is when there is a shorted alternator with a bad diode or two that puts too much AC current into a DC battery. If they are indeed "blowing" you might want to check the charging system further.

    Shorted cells will produce lots of hydrogen, if there's a spark or a hot enough heat source, they can blow the case. Normally a machine will not start with bad batteries, but if you're using jumper cables and you have hydrogen.... That's why you hook the ground jumper cable up last on the running machine side, to avoid loud noises and spraying acid.
