swampy to grousers

hey people, i'm new to posting but been hanging round the site for ages. i've had plenty of experiance on D9h's but not much with little toys like say a D20 komatsu size, and have decided to buy a little dozer like this for my own use, but i have a question bout the tracks. Most i've looked at have the swampy piramid tracks on them, i want to have standard grousers, i'm wondering if you can just swap out grousers or does the whole track chain have to be changed. Cheers...... Marty

You should be able to just swap the grouser plates for standard shoes, a swampy running on standard plates are not to bad as you normaly have a longer trackframe and wider gauge them being an LGP. I did some time on a D3B LGP with standard tracks, would climb up the wall of a house if you wanted it to was real good on steep country being longer and wider than a standard gauge and still resonably good floatation.

Sunshine Coast. The D3 was all right went well was a dry hired one, pushed well, climbed and could back up well having the long track. Down side was only 1x rev and dry steering clutches/brakes and the twisty throttle on the transmission lever. Think the later ones D3c came with wet backend ,3x3 tranny, decelerator pedal and hands only steering, early one was pedal steer.D 31 komatsu also not a bad little toy long as its a -17 as they had the wet backend.

i've been mainly looking at D21's, small enough to put on a single axle truck that i use for my welding rig (and still have the welder and crane on it) but still heavy enough to put power to the ground. I had a go of a brand spanking D3K a few weeks ago, would love one but they are a little too pricey
