Thanks to the help here and my neighbor, my 710b is running perfectly and is a beast of a backhoe. The last issues i am working out are all electrical. The tach is the one giving me a headache. It runs off the Alt which is charging at 14 volt at idle The tach will jump when the key is turned on but show nothing while running. The wires are all good as are all the connections. If I understand correctly the way the tach works is by reading the AC output from the Alt. Any ideas? Thanks
Yes, my understanding is that the tach reads the AC from the alternator. It should have a wire that you can read an AC voltage on at the alternator, connected directly to the terminal on the back of the tachometer that you should be able to read an AC voltage on as well. If you have AC voltage at the tach, then the tach is probably not working. If you don't have AC at the alternator, then the alternator side is the problem. The manual mentions one alternator with a isolation diode and one without. That could be the problem with the tach even though the alternator is charging fine.
I was reading the same section on the manual. The tach is new so i really hope its not the issue. I have not been able to read AC from the Alt so i am looking there first
