Tacheuchi TB 180 FR has low boom down pressure. All other functions work correctly Machine will not lift tracks off ground.Any ideas out there?
Hope someone that knows replies as my TB180 wont either.
Before you start adjusting the machine, check a few things. I have a Takeuchi TB153FR which also has the side to side boom movement. I know that with the boom in the middle position which seems normal for a mini excavator, the machine may not have as much power as when the boom is rotated all the way to the right of the operator. So do a test with the boom to the far right with the Control button turned to move the arm all the way back to the side of the machine. It's best to operate the machine with the arm to the far right, with the arm retracting back on the side. You should get the most power with the arm off to the right and the bucket/attachment close to the machine. If that doesn't help, then it's some mechanical adjustment.
Hi Thanks I will try tomorrow and let you know
I think : Boom down regeneration circuit failure: Most excavators use regeneration (rod-side oil + pump flow combining) for strong boom down force. If the regen valve is stuck or leaking, you lose that extra push, you might want to check regen spool in the main valve block. Boom cylinder cap-side seal failure: Internal leakage from cap to rod side reduces force. Test: fully raise boom, shut off engine, if it drops quickly then seals are bad. Boom down relief valve: Set too low or stuck partially open, limiting pressure to that circuit only. Pilot pressure issue: Weak pilot signal to boom down may not fully stroke the spool, check pilot pressure specifically for that function. Quick test: Measure pressure at the boom cylinder cap-side port during boom down under load. Compare to spec (typically 3500+ psi). Low reading = valve or relief issue; good pressure but weak force = cylinder problem.
Hi raised boom all the way up with stick extended fully out Overnight stick bled down some but boom stayed in upright position. Put a gauge on pilot pump and it was reading 1000 psi Will do more testing today and get back to you Thanks
1000 psi pilot pressure is way too high - pilot systems typically run 450–650 psi. This suggests: Pilot relief valve stuck/set wrong : Excessive pilot pressure can cause erratic spool movement or prevent full spool stroke, limiting flow to boom down. Plugged pilot filter/orifice : Creates back pressure, raising pilot pressure and starving certain functions. Since the stick bled down but boom held, the stick cylinder has minor seal wear (normal wear item), but that's not your main issue. Focus on : Adjust/replace pilot relief valve to proper spec (check manual, likely 500–580 psi) Verify pilot filter is truly clean—high pilot pressure often means restriction Once pilot pressure is correct, retest boom down force High pilot pressure can definitely cause weak or inconsistent function on specific circuits. Fix that first before checking into the boom valve or regen circuit - it may solve your problem entirely. Let us know what you find!
Thanks Nic I have a manual for the machine but couldn't locate the pilot filter? swapped the relief valves around for the stick and boom for the up and down and in and out functions but did not change the problem. Grabbed onto a stump and had a pressure gauge on the pump and it went to 5000 psi also put a gauge on the boom piston in the down direction and only got to 2800 psi
