got a question ,hope someone can answear or point me in the right direction to get one.....i want to get a 10ton gooseneck trailer ,and my question is want states do i need a dually truck to pull it....i was going to use my 3/4 diesel to move it for now( yes i know i need more truck) but the price is a steal, but i have heard that if the trucks not a dually then i cant pull a tandem gooseneck ? just would like someone to clear it up for me ,i wasnt going to go over the gcvw
We pull a tandem axle cattle trailer with a SRW gmc. Pulls a skidloader just fine too. I would think as long as you keep your load balanced, it shouldn't be a problem..
truck look up threads on CDL, if you dont exceed the weight limit for the truck, and the license weight you might be OK, but Im thinking anything bigger than a skidsteer will get you a ticket (like it did me). If I remember anything over 26,000 lb combined weight requires a CDL. The other thread goes in this in detail. Yes I know you see this being done everyday and dont forget the guys with the RV,s Good Luck
the thing that gets me about the 10 ton goose necks is the inability to haul any real wieght. i have a 14,000 pound trailer that weights around 4500 so i can put 9500 on it, if you go 10 ton you have heaver metal, axles and extra tires. you are looking at a trailer that will weigh 8-9000 pounds. so you can put 11-12000 on it. i feel safer putting an extra 2500 on my 14000 than towing 20000 behind my pick up
Would you haul a machine that weighed 12000 lbs on your 14000 lbs trailer?
back in the 70's the place I worked had 1 ton chevys with single rears.... we pull 35' goosenecks with triple axles... don't remember weights
i haul my 277b all the time on it i think it weighs in at 10,000 or a little more. i also will put a pallet of block or what ever else i need. i would be ok with 12000 as long as good weather and not hundreds of miles away
my goose neck weights 5000 lbs its a tandum dual wheel 10 ton i use a 3/4 ton duramax it works fine depending on what you are hauln there is nothing sayn you cant use a 3/4 ton truck you can only pull what the truck and trailer are rated at look in your owners manual for ratings
Single wheel chevy 1 ton pulls more weight than a dually 1 ton if u look at the specs I pull a 10 ton with a 3/4 all the time just wacth weight placement
