I have come across a Tandem Pump failure wherein only the front pump is having piston shoe wear (entire bronze coating worn and peeled off / separated) causing consequent wear of the swash plate. All other parts of both front and rear pump are largely okay. This is an excavator application, and the pump feeds control valve which has 2 sections, one each connected to one half of the pump. Both the halves of the control valve are normally merged but get separated only during single track operation. No evidence of abnormal contamination. Suggest probable cause of such problem.
